
(AsiaGameHub) – Hubert Wang, the ex-president and COO of MGM China, has reportedly moved to Sands China to take on the role of chief operating officer. In this position, he will supervise the company’s casino and hospitality functions and be in charge of its marketing and strategic direction.
Wang Joins as COO & Executive Committee Member
An internal memo from Sands China’s president and CEO, Grant Chum, confirmed Wang’s appointment as COO, according to a report by Inside Asian Gaming. The Asia-focused publication also stated the announcement indicated Wang will become a member of the SCL Executive Committee.
In his dual role as COO and committee member, Wang will oversee Sands China’s casino and hospitality operations, its local and international marketing, loyalty program, and business strategy analysis.
Per Inside Asian Gaming’s report, his start date is set for June 1, 2026. The outlet also noted that Wang ranked 28th on its 2025 Asian Gaming Power 50 list.
Wang Brings 30 Years of Experience to the Team
Wang is a seasoned industry professional with around three decades of experience in IR operations and extensive knowledge of Macau’s gaming market. He previously worked for the MGM China division of MGM Resorts International, departing in December 2025 after approximately 14 years with the firm.
Although Wang’s most recent tenure was at MGM China, he has prior history with Sands China. Earlier in his career, he assisted with the launches of The Venetian Macao in 2007 and the renowned Marina Bay Sands in Singapore in 2010.
Described as a Macau gaming authority, Wang’s appointment as COO is anticipated to significantly bolster the Sands China executive team. CEO Chum stressed that this move demonstrates the company’s steadfast dedication to investing in products, services, and personnel to maintain a competitive advantage.
