5 年前，一位動作傳奇創造了令人意外的顛覆性驚悚片

(SeaPRwire) –   任何還算像樣的動作電影，都必須讓觀眾清楚了解其暴力背後的意義。一個無名小卒對「殺神」約翰·維克（John Wick）的威脅，頂多就像一隻病弱的幼犬對你的威脅一樣微不足道。然而，觀看《熱量》（Heat）這類懸疑片之所以引人入勝，正是因為觀眾能見證兩股同樣致命的勢力如何相互較量、鬥智取勝。這種致命程度的差異，直接影響了動作片的基調與風格——這正是為什麼五年前蓋瑞·葛雷（Guy Ritchie）和傑森·史塔森（Jason Statham）將一名終結者般的角色帶入一群自以為是的反派世界時，顯得如此 intriguing（引人深思）。

在《怒火救援》（Wrath of Man）中，史塔森得做好心理準備，因為他正在復仇的道路上奮戰，而對手是一群滿口大话的自負男人，他們各自懷有暴力野心，卻渾然不知真正的 killer（殺手）其實就潛伏在他們之中。派屈克·希爾（Patrick Hill，由史塔森飾）加入 Fortico Security 的動機，後來才逐漸揭曉：他的兒子在一場混亂的 armored truck（運鈔車）搶劫案中遭殺害，而他懷疑內部有人通風報信。他在 investigation（調查） colleagues（同事）的同時，也展開一場 lone crusade（孤軍奮戰），對抗 truck robbers（運鈔車強盜），此舉雖讓部分同事 impressed（印象深刻），卻也讓 others（其他人）感到 alarmed（警惕）。

對 Ritchie 而言，《怒火救援》 unusual（非典型）。他以 gangster action-comedy（黑幫動作喜劇）起家，之後陸續參與《阿拉丁》（Aladdin）與《王者劍客：聖劍傳說》（King Arthur: Legend of the Sword）等 broad blockbusters（大型商業片），但這部作品 dark（陰暗）到近乎 grim（陰沉）。全片分為四個章節， subtitle（副標題）包括「黑暗 spirits（靈體）」、「焦土 policy（策略）」，而 Ritchie 的台詞 rarely gets wittier（妙語連珠）——最多也就是史塔森在回嗆 Post Malone 的「 suck my dick」後，冷冷回應「 suck your own dick」，接著一槍 shot（射殺）對方。Ritchie 嚴謹的 script（劇本）與對幕後細節的 careful attention（細心關注），竟讓 truck security（運鈔保全）的世界 elevated（提升至）近乎莎劇悲劇的層次。

結果呈現出一部電影，既是 tough-guy masculinity（硬漢男子氣概）空洞性的 commentary（評論），也是對傑森·史塔森酷勁十足的 commentary。雖然《怒火救援》始終未能 fully reconcile（ reconciling）這兩層主題，但 attempts（嘗試）本身已足夠 intriguing（ intriguing）。故事以 nonlinear（非線性）方式敘事， slowly unraveling（逐步揭露）希爾與其獵物之間的關係，然而那些 diverging into the Los Angeles underworld（ divergence 進入洛城地下世界的段落），卻因過度嚴肅 self-seriousness（自我 seriousness）而顯得 overwrought（矯揉造作）， reminiscent（ reminiscent of）Ritchie bizarre（ bizarre）的 2005 年作品《變節疑雲》（Revolver）。《怒火救援》最接近 hinting（暗示）Hill 血腥 revenge（復仇）背後 flawed（ flawed）心理的時刻，是他為此付出 marriage（婚姻）的代價，但這絲毫未改變他在多數 scenes（場景）中被塑造成 alpha male meme（ alpha 男性迷因） poster man（海報人物）的事實。

儘管部分 critics（批評家） dismissing（輕視）《怒火救援》為 mindless（毫無腦筋）且 glib（輕率）的作品，但 every non-Statham character（ every non-Statham character who tries to man up and be a head-popping hero not only gets themselves killed, but usually gets other people killed too. 希爾的兒子之所以遭殺害，正是因為一名警衛被 adrenaline（ adrenaline）衝昏頭，試圖成為自己心目中的「傑森·史塔森」；而其他 any guard who talks themselves into fighting impossible odds（ any guard who talks themselves into fighting impossible odds）也很快因此喪命。一旦 inside man（內鬼） revealed（ revealed），結局顯示：以為 clever（ clever）就能全身而退的 traitor（叛徒）， lifespan（ lifespan）同樣短暫。唯一 survived（ survived）的 Fortico 紙上作業 manager（ paper-pushing manager），是唯一察覺 Hill truly terrifying sociopath（ truly terrifying sociopath）而非值得 celebrated and emulated（ celebrated and emulated）的 badass（ hard guy），也是少數沒為他人錢財而死的 characters（ characters）之一。

至於 thieves（ thieves），他們 actually（ actually）是阿富汗 veterans（ veterans） struggling（ struggling） finding work（ finding work）。他們聲稱 armed robbery（ armed robbery） solely（ solely）為了養家糊口，但 soon（ soon）revealed（ revealed）他們真正 craving（ craving）的是 planning（ planning）、operating（ operating），甚至 killing（ killing）的 thrill（ thrill）。Given how little Afghanistan and Iraq penetrated American pop culture（ Given how little Afghanistan and Iraq penetrated American pop culture），Richie portrayal（ portrayal）他們的 leader（ leader）（由傑佛瑞·唐納文 Jeffrey Donovan 飾）affable husband and dad（ affable husband and dad）的溫馨 scene（ scene），緊接下一幕卻看到他 discussing acceptable civilian casualties（ discussing acceptable civilian casualties）——這 noteworthy（ noteworthy）轉變，日後 Ritchie 更在《 Covenant（ Covenant）》中再次探討 abandoned translators（ abandoned translators）的 plight（ plight）。這當然不是《殺鹿人》 Deer Hunter（ Deer Hunter），但至少不是一無是處的 movie（ movie）。

整體而言，《怒火救援》 feels like John Wick crossed with Heat（ feels like John Wick crossed with Heat），可惜未能 synergize（ synergizing）兩者的 strengths（ strengths）——部分原因在於《怒火救援》本質上是 loosely（ loosely）remake（ remake）2004 年法國 film Le Convoyeur（ Le Convoyeur），少了些許史塔森的 flavor（ flavor）。中段 where（ where）史塔森 truly Stathams it up（ truly Stathams it up）的部分 weakest（ weakest），但 final heist（ final heist）的 tension（ tension）與 visceral（ visceral）程度足以彌補此前 sometimes meandering（ sometimes meandering）的等待。這足以令人 wonder（ wonder）Ritchie 若以更 straightforward（ straightforward）方式處理 heist genre（ heist genre），會呈現出什麼成果。

現階段，《怒火救援》是一部 warning（ warning）： testosterone-laced bluster（ testosterone-laced bluster）再怎麼 loud（ loud），也無法讓你變成傑森·史塔森。每部故事裡只能有一個史塔森，而 odds are（ odds are），你不是他。John Wick 裡的 gangsters（ gangsters）害怕知道「殺神」 lurking（ lurking）在外，但更可怕的是 realizing（ realizing）你根本不是自己以為的 untouchable badass（ untouchable badass），而 someone else（ someone else）才是——因為等到你 come to（ come to）這個 realization（ realization），往往已經太遲。
